Expect sustainable transport especially walking, all things local in Highbury and across Islington. With the usual disclaimer about opinions being mine.

Time for a new hashtag?
The #cyclesafe hashtag has generated a bit of Twitter discussion about the need for #walksafe as well as #cyclesafe. Carlton Reid has suggested that #peoplesafe might get more long term traction than either #walksafe or #cyclesafe and Joe Dunkley suggested yesterday that we need "Cities Fit For People", which is of course exactly what we all need.

#cyclesafe
#streetsforpeople was another I liked
The second one has stirred up a lot of discussion and allowed many people to answer questions, set records straight... whether they listen is to be seen
I often use #streetsforpeople - gets away from silo thinking by transport mode. If we can only think about people travelling by different modes (people walking/cycling/driving) rather than people defined by their transport choices (pedestrians/cyclists/drivers) we might have a chance of getting more people-friendly streets.
